Default O-Ring Style Calipers

My rear O-ring style calipers are leaking. Can anybody tell me where I can purchase a rebuild kit with just the rubber parts. I can find kits for original style seals but nothing for the O-ring style.

Thanks Tim

Thanks turtlevette, I check them out and I am concerned with the fact that their kit will only fit VBP pistons. Not sure what makes them different from others. Tim

Do you have the zero tolerance pistons? I got my seals for ZT pistons from VBP. You're ok.

Where did you get the calipers?

I don't know where the calipers came from, they were on the car when I purchased it. The piston clearance to the bore is very close, so they might be close tolerance. I think I go ahead and try the seals from VBP and hope I get lucky. Thanks you have been very helpful....Tim

Its been a while since I rebuilt my calipers with the VBP O-ring kit, but when I got my kit it came with new pistons also. Easy enough to do if you have never done it. Just be careful when taking out the bore seal so you don't score the caliper bore. When I did mine it seems like the price was around $100 for all four calipers. Good luck with it and let us know how it turns out for you.

VBP stamps their calipers. Look for a stamping to have VBP or LS. The LS would be from Lone Star. There are a couple guys rebuilding these but I'm not sure if they put a stamp on them or not. I know these 2 companies do.

Any piston can leak.

OP the VB&P kit is top notch quality. If you're concerned about the dubious origins of your components, then why not just spring for their kit? It's only ~$200 for all 4 corners IIRC, and it will replace everything but the caliper cores themselves. That's a small price to pay for piece of mind and safety.

Most people use these to prevent leaks caused by air pumping due to rotor run out. O-rings like all other seals wear out over time, heat, poor cyl prep, garbage on the fluid, etc, will cause any seal to leak. I've had o-ring seals in both my vettes for many years with no problems. I orignally installed them because I could not stop the leaking with the standard lip seals.
