Fly wheel
I noticed four worn places each about the size of a dime on my flywheel Three are side by side and one about 4 inches away. Doesn't look right to me. Can anyone offer their opinion? replace or not. 71 SB

I would just replace it. This will save you some trouble down the road. You won't have to worry about it later on

A pic would certainly help, but resurfacing your flywheel is likely all it needs.
Be very wary of 'cheap' flywheels. These are likely cast out of who knows what kind of pig iron in china.

Either resurface the OE flywheel as those are hot spots and easily removed or maybe get the new as it will have a new ring gear too and would have spent at least 80 to repair {grind} yours with the same parts and labor with the ring gear...

The shop I buy my all clutch kits from, resurfaces the flywheels for free in just a few minutes.

I looked at the 80 dollar tci and I would call and verify that it is not just a flex plate for an auto tranny

perfection p/n 50-6504 is the approx 30 pound, 168 Tooth standard flywheel for 71 350" vette manual trans.

it's $90 at Advance AP. They'll SHIP it for FREE ... if you add $10 to order to make $100 total (2-3 oil filters?) they'll give you a $50 coupon .... limited time offer that's a good value!

I'd usually pay to resurface but above is good deal. New FW w/ ring gear for essentially $50.

Be forewarned most of the cast iron flywheels are now Chinese, I would be wary of the quality if I autocrossed or drag raced my Vette.
Cheap Chinese billet steel flywheels on the otherhand, I will admit to using these

A new flywheel for $80?
Better invest in a scattershield bell housing too.
I would probably have the current resurfaced and be done with it (unless there are other issues with it).

TCI makes good stuff, but if you got the money, a lighter flywheel would be nice
. That's what I'm planning for mine.
