while doing the engine swap , I decided to go from power to manual steering , expecting a better steering wheel feel at speed and saving 20-24lbs on the front.
I have a spare control valve. now disassembled on the bench. need tips on how to modify it.
You might wana try this instead of coming up with your own stuff. https://www.borgeson.com/xcart/produ...&cat=63&page=1 Its a part used to convert the older style power steering to a newer style box that has the power assist integrated into the steering gear itself.

I realize u don't have the time to order parts or books.
Corvette Q & A by Dave Emanuel (book) describes how to convert from PS to manual steer w/o parts but i can't find my copy.:o I think u remove most of the hydralics (pump & hoses) but maybe leave the slave on as a dampner (i can't recall now) and move the tie rods back a hole/notch (to fast steer) on the steering nuckle then just reset the toe. Uses PS pitman arm and relay rod.: :
OK.
the control valve mod is done. I hope the manual steering will work fine as i expect.
the new engine should be in at the end of this week. not more in a hurry because really bad weather here and no way to take the car out for a ride. I'm taking the chance to do some steering-suspensions job while waiting :
-manual steering
-0 camber at the front wheels ( can't get more than zero until I lower the front springs and switch to offset A arms rods)
-replacing tie rods with VBandP to make the toe adj easier. I have also the bump steer blocks but not sure I should place them or not because my ride height is still too high and just zero camber
-QA1 shocks at the rear
