Default PS control valve mod for manual steering

while doing the engine swap , I decided to go from power to manual steering , expecting a better steering wheel feel at speed and saving 20-24lbs on the front.

I have a spare control valve. now disassembled on the bench. need tips on how to modify it.

found this link
http://www.corvettesteering.com/Install.htm

but pics doesn't show up and btw adding just a metal disk seems not enough to me to put the stud correctly in place

You might wana try this instead of coming up with your own stuff. https://www.borgeson.com/xcart/produ...&cat=63&page=1 Its a part used to convert the older style power steering to a newer style box that has the power assist integrated into the steering gear itself.

You have to change the relay rod and pitman arm to go from PS to Non PS.

It's a last minute mod. no time to buy parts ( I live in italy)

I've found that to mod the PS control valve to resemble this ( http://www.ecklers.com/product.asp?p...8&dept_id=1838 ) should work fine

Default I realize u don't have the time to order parts or books.

Corvette Q & A by Dave Emanuel (book) describes how to convert from PS to manual steer w/o parts but i can't find my copy.:o I think u remove most of the hydralics (pump & hoses) but maybe leave the slave on as a dampner (i can't recall now) and move the tie rods back a hole/notch (to fast steer) on the steering nuckle then just reset the toe. Uses PS pitman arm and relay rod.: :

Good luck,

OK.
the control valve mod is done. I hope the manual steering will work fine as i expect.

the new engine should be in at the end of this week. not more in a hurry because really bad weather here and no way to take the car out for a ride. I'm taking the chance to do some steering-suspensions job while waiting :
-manual steering
-0 camber at the front wheels ( can't get more than zero until I lower the front springs and switch to offset A arms rods)
-replacing tie rods with VBandP to make the toe adj easier. I have also the bump steer blocks but not sure I should place them or not because my ride height is still too high and just zero camber
-QA1 shocks at the rear

ops... a little problem,

on my BB if I remove the PS pump , no way to run the alternator. BB alternator brackets are different from PS and non PS.

any idea? no time to buy the manual steering-alternator brackets...
