Default Parking Brake Lever....

Has anyone ever removed the plastic slider and installed a leather or rubber dust boot over the parking brake handle? My slider is constantly jamming up while releasing the brake.

I haven't seen another type of dust cover.

However, I've had problems in the past too. Here are three suggestions that helped me:

1. If you installed any type of insulation forward of the parking brake handle, remove it. I think mine was jamming on the Reflectix which didn't give enough clearance to the console.
2. It's possible to overtighten the screws for the parking brake housing. This causes it to clamp down too hard.
3. I reinstalled a new plastic slider with a dab of lightweight grease on the very edge that engages the slides.

I did all three of these things and fixed my issues.

I'll give all three a try. I have been looking at the salvage yard for a leather boot that will fit. I have found several that might do the trick. Have a great weekend!!!

I have a new slider to install on the PB handle, can you tell me how the plastic handle comes off so as to put the slider over it?
Thanks in advance.

The plastic slider piece should have a slit in it so you can fit it on the handle.

Hi Ron,
Welcome!!
As bt said you'll need to put a slit on one side of the 'slide'
The track the slide moves in is precise enough to hold the slit closed so you really don't see it. when it's installed.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan
