Default Need help on installing door switch terminals

I have no manual to go by so I can't quite figure this one out. I am installing a door ajar warning switch on the rear of the door jamb of a 69 coupe. [Eckler-A9575] I also bought the new terminal kit [Eckler-36808] I assumed the end of the terminal that you push into the switch would lock into the plastic housing of the switch. It won't!
What holds the terminal ends evenly in place?
Anyone shed some light?

I'm not sure what terminal Ecklers sells, but they should hold themselves in place.

If they won't stay in the switch, you can bend over the end a little to hold it. I'm not sure if their terminal is long enough, but it only takes a little bit. The trick is when you are done is to make sure the switch back side will make contact with all the terminals you install.

Thanks for the reply. Seems like a Mickey Mouse design.
Does anyone have any pics or diagrams showing this installation?

Not only is it a mickey mouse design but the aftermarket reproduction parts make the problem worse. But back to your original question. The terminals are for a lack of a better term "a fish-hook design" When you slide the terminal in, the hook should catch on the inside of the plastic. You might be trying to insert them upside down, in which case it will not hook. To me the biggest frustration was the aftermarket switch. Once installed is make very poor contact with the terminals. GM still makes these switches and I would a GM part before any aftermarket. Part number is 3929804. While I'm not 100% certain it will work, you could try a later model Corvette door ajar switch that uses 3/16" female spade terminals. Delco still makes these and the part number is D6088. You can find these on Amazon.

I ended up swapping my courtesy light switch to this later design using Delco number D6063 which also uses the 3/16 female spade terminals and it was worth it. Good luck.

Terminal should look like this. Tab points toward the OD of the plastic switch housing, then push it in until it locks in place.

Gary. Great pics -----Thanks
I also got a reply from tech dept at Eckler's They described installation procedure as your photos did, and it should lock.
However, mine didn't. Hummmmmmm
I made it work by epoxying to the pin sticking out of the rear of the switch.

You could have made it stay by opening the tab a little more so it would catch on the nylon sleeve. Mine were so snug when I tried to remove one it went through the nylon.
