On 76, 350/auto w/ ac.
The body shop that installed w/s did a poor job and after 2 wks. of rain I have damp drivers seat and damp carpet on both sides on floor board.
I noticed the coolant level in radiator was down a little (recovery tank empty as well)so I'm thinking I have a bad heater core as well. Installed a new core, hoses, and water valve last year. Everthing checked out ok after install and worked fine up until now.
Ideas on how to check, by pass heater core without taking everthing apart would be apprecaited.
Thanks
The heater core isnt the only place coolant can become lost. One hose will be 5/8" and the other 3/4". You can connect the two with the right pipe adapters although the leaking weatherstripping would be more alarming to me. If you let water get into your birdcage area it will rust out quicker than Obama says the word "transparency"!
Do you smell antifreeze on the passenger's side? Driver's seat being wet would not have anything to do with the heater core.
I don't smell a-freeze on pass side but, I have a hard time smelling a-freeze. I'm going to tie the 5/8" X 3/4" hoses that go into core and see if that solves part of the problem.
Thanks for the thoughts.

Before going to that trouble, just dip a piece of paper towel into the carpet on the passenger side. If it comes up green...heater core.
