Default Driveshaft differences

I happen to have 3 different driveshafts here at my house. The first one is from a stock 71 automatic car. It is 30 7/8 inches end to end and 2 1/4 inches in diameter. The 2nd one is from a TKO 500 from Keisler. It measures 28 inches end to end and is 2 1/2 inches in diameter. The 3rd one is for my T56 behind a Gen 1 SB and is 25 7/8 end to end and is 2 1/2 inches in diameter. They are all using a 1330 ujoint.

Interesting how much difference. All because of the distance to the tranmission as the rear location and distance doesn't really change, correct? Anyone out there know torque to length ratio and stress to diameter that migh be at play here? You must be pushing some pretty big HP's on that third shaft, but if it is larger diameter and shorter length it should be (theoretically) able to handle more HP I would think.
With more HP up front what do you have to do to the rear end to handle it?
