Default ? For the steering control valve pro's

Ive dissasembled the steering valve and discovered the the flat spring in the ball stud side of valve has broken. does anyone know if the rebuild kit has one? Am I going to have to reassemble and buy one rebuilt already? Or does anyone out there possibly have one sitting in there toolbox???

Thanks in advance...VIC...

I rebuilt mine last year. If you're referring to item 13 in the exploded view here:
http://content.mamotorworks.com/pdf/602456.pdf

Then I'm 90% sure that the rebuild kit DOES have this washer. I think it's the only flat washer in the assembly, right? The kit certainly has a flat washer in it.

Click on the item number, 602-456.

It is not in the rebuild kit. And I don't know who can supply a new one. Jim Shea may recommend a supplier or have one to sell/give to you. Send him a PM to ask. If not, buy a new unit as recommended above. [No reason to scrap the old one if you can find a new spring, though...unless you find other damage.]

Post a pic of the broken part. There are 2 rebuild kits for the control valve. One (the less expensive one) has the seals for the fluid side of the valve. The other kit has a new ball stud, sleeve, rod, spring, retaining cap - everything for the dry side of the valve. I used both kits and IIRC there were new parts to replace just about everything inside the valve. I bought both kits from ZIP but there may be other sources as well.

YESSSSS, Circled in red thats it, The fluid side of valve was in great shape as for as wear. The steering side well theres much to be desired, kinda rusty greasy mess,I wasnt worried figured a little more work to clean and make usable again untill I found broken spring.

Thanks for those links already have them printed and in the "corvette" expense and warranty/and paperwork that came with purchases, "file". GREAT INFO!!!!

Ive already ordered a kit through napa auto. Guess ill try your spring if you will kindy send it.Ill pay shipping Na seriously let me know if I owe you anything. I think this was just a bad case.I havent heard of this happening often. Im building this car and paying a lawyer over a custody case so budjet is first and foremost. Even if It lasts a year or two its paid its dues and ill purchase a new one.

Just a thought, how much would you want for your core? That is if your willing to sell. From those pics theres several pieces from your valve that looks much better than mine.

This is my before and after shots of my CV.

Also here is a trick I came up with to help me when it came time to replace the CV ajuster nut.
I took my caliper and it has a rat tail on the end. I'm sure theres a proper name for it but today I'll call it a rat tail. I measured the distance from the end of the ajuster screw to the nut the to know exactly where the nut was positioned before I removed it (.222) then I just set it back to where it was when I reinstalled the nut.
So now it should be extremely close but now having new guts and springs in the control valve I'm sure the adjustment will be off somewhat be it should be real close.
