Default 383 timing

My 76 has a 383 stroker motor in replace of the original. I do not know anything about the motor or whats in it other than it has a Holly 670 street avenger carb and roller rockers. I know base timing for a SBC 350 is 6 degrees, is this good enough for the 383 or should it be set to something different??

Many unknown variables, cam specs, etc...... 36 Deg. TOTAL timing is a good start.

The timing sticky at the top of this section has everything you need to get it right.

You shoudn't care too much about initial timing, total timing is what is really important.
Will you drive your car at 900 RPM or will you drive it at 3000+ RPM ?
If you are in the second category, and I hope you are, think total timing, not initial.
BTW, 6° for a performance engine is way too low. 12°-18° initial is the correct range, which means you should have about 20° centrifugal advance, +/- 2°...

Yes I know I don't have alot of information on the engine. I was just looking for a ballpark number to start with since I know 6 deg is the base for a standard 350.

Initial timing is irrelevant, but 6 degrees is not a good starting point for any performance engine. Set total timing to 36 - this is the starting point for any performance setup. Hopefully, this will get your initial in the 12-18 degree range. If your initial ends up lower than 12 degrees once you have timing set to 36 total, consider shortening your distributor's advance curve so you can get the initial in the ballpark while maintaining 36 total. E-mail me for my papers on this if you need assistance.
