Hey guys,
I need some help because my gauge lights won't work. I checked the fuses and from a visual they were fine. The dome light and floorboard lights work, but not the gauges or the shift panel. A few days ago I took apart the dash to replace my defroster grill. I didn't drive it at night so I don't know if that's when it happened or not. Is there a wire/plug that I may have knocked out?
I know the ones in my CE didn't work either. I checked everything and when I fixed the non working power seat ground, they came on. Check your grounds in the area and there is a circuit "map" in the rear of the guage area. That might have cracks in the solder. It could also be the bulb sockets. Check them they may be corroded.
Hey Hokie,
My 76 had the fuse at the very bottom. It was that short 5amp fuse. Ignition must be on. Some fuse look good by site but are bad.
May have ignition switch problem if voltage not getting there.
I was going to say, "good luck on the ACC tournament, but that UVA not VT. Don't know what you guys play in.
I had the same problem. It ended up being my light switch which also controls how bright and dim your inside gauge lights go. They run about $45.00 from any auto parts.
I had the same problem and it drove me crazy for about 2 weeks. I checked all the fuses visually. they looked good and even tested good on a continuity test. Finally I replaced them one by one any way and it ended up being the tail lamp fuse! evidentally the dash light fuse gets its power from the tail lamp fuse.
Good luck
