i have a leak coming from the bellhousing around the transmission o te interi of my 72. have narrowed it down to behind the center console not sure what it can be... i have debated trying to seal the firewall again. but im not sure..
secondly, i have a leak on both doors that comes down over the kicker panel. Like on the driver side where the hood latch is the bracket is slightly rusted.. any ideas ? .. the weather stripping was replaced, but i am still leakingaround my t-tops, and they aren't matchign up to the windows...
Hello Warrior
Just a quick thought. Have you looked in the wiper tray where the front bonds to the firewall? I have heard of the bond coming loose and leaking.

What's leaking from the bellhousing/trans into the interior? If it's oil, it's probably the fitting on the back of the oil pressure gauge or the line itself.

Scott, I suspect that I have the condition you describe. Is there a good fix for this or is it a matter of 'caulking' and re-caulking when the leak returns?

I sealed the entire wiper trough with 3M automotive spray undercoating. It looks like the factory sealant, but dries dark brown, not black.
I am not so sure that it wasn’t bonding adhesive that sort of squeezed out of the joint when it was assembled from the factory. There are people on this form that can tell you for sure. You could use automotive seam sealer that is just brushed over the joints to seal them and then paint over it.
Hi,
I agree with R71 that you will see some of the bond material that squeezed out when the panels were put together. Lot's of sealer as Mike suggested will certainly help.
Rather than sealing the wiper shaft I think the leak occurs around the studs and nuts that mount the wiper transmissions on each side.

Alan
