Does anyone know if in my 78 should my heater blower fan function when my key is in the ignition position or does the car have to be started?
Reason I ask is my fan used to only work when switched to high, no medium or low. Now I replaced the resistor and wanted to test the 3 fan functions, low, med, & high but I get nothing. I dont ever recall trying the blower without the car running. Im just trying to get the 3 speeds working on the fan.
I have a 81 and my blower fan comes on with the key switch in the ignition position engine not running....Tim
that's what I thought, but I guess I never actually tried it without the car running. I only had high function, no low or med in the past & thought maybe the resistor was bad, put in a new resistor, turned the key to ignition position & now I get nothing.
With just the ignition turned on, you should only get slow speed. Try to move the heater/ac switch to heat and see if you get high speed. Also chk you blower fuse on the fuse box.......Tim

Ill check the fuse tomorrow but I did have the battery out when replacing the resistor.
