Those look sweet! So Jegs mounted and balanced them for you? What was the cost for it all?

Front and rear sway bars, Bilstein front shocks, 480lb front springs, at the rear Koni-coilovers with 220lb eibach springs. The shock/spring combination is mounted at the rear of the trailing arms. A Dragvette 6-link, MW axles, and the original stock but rebuilt 3.08 geared center section. 3in. halfshafts with 1350 solid spicers, Tires are 325/50/15 which are soon to be replaced with 295/55/15 which is a 28" tall tire
Ran 29 N/A pass's last year, with a restricter and a best of 9.78 with out the restricted air filter ran 9.54

Yeah Jegs mounts/balances for $10.99 a wheel. They also only charged $20 for shipping, fed ex 2 day. I ordered them this Monday and got them today. I bought the 2 15x8 Wheel Vintique Rally wheels and the 2 MT ET Street radials, mounted/balanced and shipped to my door for $563. I thought that was a pretty good deal and I didn't have to sit at Discount tire for a half a day waiting to get them mounted.

So you are basically running a stock type front suspension(ie. not a drag setup), but a pretty custom rear suspension with coil overs(which I have never seen for IRS), with the DV 6 link and a stock center section...?

What about the outer axles, are those the Mark W? 30 spline? What about the side yokes, still 17 spline?

Sorry for all the questions, I am just trying to see what I REALLY need for the IRS to live.....not just run and dump $5-6k on a Toms setup....

I will be running 3.08s also...

I look at those tires and I can only think of one word.....STICKY .
For what it's worth a lot of guys say they get better weight transfer when they disconnect the front sway bar. For the amount of time it would take it may be worth a shot to see if it makes a difference for your car.

Yes, stock front suspension. No dragshocks or trick springs.

Yes, stock trailing arms, with Mark W. 30 spline outers.

The center section is original to the car. Has been rebuilt, Eaton pozi, but still has the 17 spline spiders and hardened big block yokes, with original GM gears

The rear suspension is very basic, with the coilovers replacing the tranverse leaf. The shocks mount in what looks like a 4-link shock mount setup. This is bolted and then welded at the rear of the trailing arm. Inserted where the ride hidth adjustment bolts go thru if it still had the original spring.

The 3.08 gears, 6-link and the M/T's are the main reasons the tires will hook up well. The fact that the cross shaft doesn't get constantly hammered by the yoke, allows these to last awhile. How long?...Oh, and I run a VBP traction bar. Mounts at the original spring location, runs forward and slightly askew to the right, then welded to frame tabs. 3/4" rear sway bar with heim joints at the ends.

Those will hook. ML67 uses them on his 548" stick car........

You're going to smack your head on the back glass when you mat it!

I can never figure out why people do things halfass You bought dedicated wheels just for drag racing. Why would you not go ahead and buy real hoosier or goodyear drag slicks?

I just change my tires at the track.

What exactly did I do half assed? I bought the best drag radials on the market? I am going to mount them on the car for 95% of my driving, only taking them off for long trips and such. The car will be raced/cruised often and I am not changing tires back and forth every weekend...not to mention I am running wide radials up front, why would I want to risk running 125mph with bias plys on the back and radials up front? This is a stock looking street car with stock sized tires all the way around...

Thanks fo

So where do your carry your tires, when driving to the races? On the luggage rack? or passenger seat?

Theres No halfin it here. These tires flat azz HOOK. M/T designed these tires for cars with auto/trans.

Dedicated drag slicks are no longer needed for auto equiped cars. Manual equiped cars will benefit by running slicks.

The Pro-street class's I run with all have to run DOT tires. The drag radial guys run 8.0's on 275/60/15 with leaf springs and Cal-Tracs!

Give em a try you'll like em. Don't have to spend the time to change back and forth. Which equates to more time racing.

Great tire choice! Al....Like Jim said, watch your head!.... Gonna be fun!

Maybe he wants to enter some of of the street races for fun at the track. You can't run slick assed tires in those. Only DOTs, and MT drag radials are probably the best you can run. You can also drive it to the track with the drag radials and not have to have a trailer and/or someone to bring your slick assed tires there for you.

Hey d555,

thanks for all of the info on your car. That helps a bunch. It looks like they really don't need a lot to get them to hook. Mostly rear suspension it looks like needs the bulk of the work.

I guess I will see soon enough. I guess i will try it first with the front sway bar connected and see how it does. I hate how they drive with no front sway bar. If I can't get it to hook i will loosen it at the track.

The front sway bar is in place on my car. It doesn't seem to prevent the front end from lifting.

those are nice tires. my buddy runs them on his 585rwhp procharged ls1 camaro with 6spd. Only downside is they wear out every 2000-3000miles on street.

How much power are you making?

I'm gonna try some nitto drag radials 275/60/15 this spring. They dont hook as well as M/T but suppose to last like 10,000miles on street( thats about 5-6years worth of driving for me lol)

I have used the Nittos. They are pretty decent and do last a good 8k miles but they start loosing bite after about 5k miles. Good all around tires though, way better then regular radials. Unfortunately they don't make em in 255/60. These MTs should hook WAY better then the Nittos.

Not sure on my rwhp. It makes 657hp at the crank.

I have a question. Do drag radials require heat like a burn out to get the best traction? If yes is the answer, I was wondering how good are on the street when they are cold?

With mid 600 hp and a ton of TQ from a 496 I was wondering how it drives?

What track do you run at?

Got a brother in law down in Pearland working on a 74. He mentioned something about a big vette swap-meet around March, may try and run over there and see what they got.

Been watching your engine thread close, very interested in what it runs.

I'm looking at some BFG G-Force TA KD's for mine to help out with traction.

Keep us posted on how it runs

I ran thses tires on my old 355 Datsun 240Z. Stock rear end, ran 11.0's . Tires barely spun at track. Spun about 10-15 feet on street.
