Default 1969 Fan Blade help

427, no A/C. Have located a supposed original. Will 3888366 be stamped on the fan? Are the stamps "W" and "H" and "66" also correct?

Hi JJ,
The info I have states 3888366 is the part#, but doesn't indicate that the fan is stamped with that #. It indicates stampings of FRONT, H, 66, and W as you mention.
Perhaps some 69 427 people will pipe up.
Regards,
Alan

Thanks Alan! What source are you using? Guess I'm going to have to invest in one. Would also like to know how to tell a repro from an original.

Hi JJ,
I was looking at 69 CORVETTE GUIDEBOOK, by Rick Bizzoco. It was published in 1994 by California Traders and mainly distributed, I believe, by Crane's Corvettes.
It only has black and white photos but is by far the most detailed source for information and photos of unrestored 69 parts and 69 cars.
It's soft bound and mine is so used I have to keep rubber bands around it to keep it together.
For 69 information it rivals the NCRS TECH MANUAL & JUDGING GUIDE, but is really a book with a different make-up and purpose.
Regards,
Alan

PS: It has a copy of a newspaper ad from Heckler Chevrolet in Richmond Va. from 1970 advertising one of the two ZL-! cars with a list price of $10,773.65. The car supposedly sold for $8,100!!!!!!!!

Hi Bill,
Yes... the info indicates that's the one.
Although this book doesn't mention it I recall reading that the aluminium motor was taken out of the Corvette and put in the new owner's ski/drag boat; and that when the car was next sold the motor wasn't with it but was located and re-united wth the car. (Wayne Walker/ZIP). Does that make sense with what you know?
Regards,
Alan

I used to have the original 5-bladed fan on my '69 L36 non-AC car, until I sucked in a yours-truly-installed shroud seal and bent the hell out of it. Have tried two replacements that don't compare. The trailing edge tip on the original is quite squared-off compared to the rounded or tapered trailing edges on the replacements, which also seem to be smaller in diameter. My original gap to the shroud was maybe only 1/4" or less. Now it seems to be 1/2" to 5/8". I gave the old fan to a guy to try and match up with one he has laying around and haven't gotten around to getting it back yet. I don't seem to recall any stampings on my original. I have been told there were several different fans put on these cars.
