Default "Best" headers

Hey guys,

I recently purchased a '69 BB 'vert. I'm looking to replace the exhaust manifolds with a good set of headers. I've done a few searches here, and couldn't find what I was looking for. What do you guys think are the "best" headers for this vehicle. Looking to spend ~$500. I understand that "best" is subjective and a matter of opinion, but I would like to see what kind of consensus the forum members come up with. FYI, the car already has factory style sidepipes, so I'm looking for just the headers, not a header/sidepipe combo. Thanks guys!

I asked a similar question a month ago. Have a 69 L46 with factory pipes. If you click on "Lemans Blue 69" to the left and then on "Find More Posts" and scrool down, you will see my posting "Headers for Factory Exhaust". You can then see the input I received. Might help you decide what you want to do. It helped me.

i did quite a bit of reasearch when i went to buy mine. my final decision was the ceramic coated hooker super comp headers. very pleased with my choice. they replaced a set of plain hooker comps, big difference, you get what you pay for imo. i was pleased with the fit and finish. i cant comment on performance gain because i went from a cheap hooker comp, cherry bomb chambered system (on the carwhen i bought it), to an expensive super comp, x-pipe borla system. i know opinions are like a-holes, but i hope the little bit of info helps. best reguards,

chase

Motorhead has been posting some headers that look super nice. Big thick flanges should be good for years to come. Maybe he will chime in on what brand they are and if they have them to fit your application. I think the ones he was posting had big primaries.

No big block headers, just small block. I wouldn't rule out big block headers in the futures though

Hooker Super Comps are the best made for under $500, that won't get them ceramic coated for that price. You will give up a few HP for other brands but yes they can be bought with coatings for under $500.
