Hey guys im installing a 406 small block in my 74 and thinking about using solid motor mounts. They are offered in a tall and short version does anyone know which would be better in a corvette..Thanks in advance for replys....
If you're building a race car, solid mounts may make sense, but if you're building a street car it probably isn't such a good idea. Something to consider however might be polyurethane mounts. http://www.jegs.com/i/Energy-Suspens...1114G/10002/-1
These will provide most of the stiffness of solid mounts without transmitting most of the engine vibrations to the chassis.
Anything taller than a stock mount is going to add to the problem these cars already have with hood clearance. It may limit limit your intake options.

All '63-'82 Corvettes use the same Moroso #62530 solid mounts. You only have to have one engine attempt to escape thru the hood (BTDT) to figure out that they are a good idea on true high-perf applications. Helps stiffen the chassis a mite and maintain driveline alignment too, but do NOT install a solid transmission mount. If you opt against solids, I'd suggest at least using an interlocking type.

hey skunkworks that part number you gave for the moroso motor mounts show to be for a big block in the jegs mag. are they the same for small blocks too for the corvette...Thanks
I use a solid one on the drivers side because the motor torques up on that side, and a rubber one on the passenger side to take some of the vibration. I honestly didn't notice a difference after I installed the solid one. People cry about it, but that's prob because they're relying on hear-say. Like 90% of the info you get on this forum.

Try a short 1/4"x20 bolt - best deal in town.
Yep, if u look your mounts over u can figure where to drill and install a 1/4"x20 bolt (or 2) with a thin locking nut - no torque on bolt. This still gives some squish but won't come apart.
