Default Help to identify bushes

My Mechanic has asked me to import some bushes for my 1976 Corvette. He has asked for the following:

1) He asked for Front swaybar linkrod bushes
2) He asked for steering damper bushes
3) He asked for Suspension spring bushes

The car is a stock standard 76 with a 350 engine, automatic. I am just about to order some parts from Wilcox, and I would like to add these to the order, can someone please help me to identify the parts I need to order, or at least give me the questions to ask the mechanic to help narrow down what he wants?

Thanks
Kev

I think you want "bushings" which you can get as factory original "rubber" or polyurethane. You can get a kit which has a set of all of these, or maybe a kit for the front and another for the rear. I think I would ask the mechanic which ones he needs or maybe just replace them all while you are at it. Do a search here to see if rubber original is what you want or the polyurethane. Good luck.

Kev,

This is kind of hard to tell what you are looking for. The steering damper bushings might be the power steering cylinder bushing where the cylinder mounts to the frame.

Probably the bushings on the end of this cylinder.

Here is the bushing. http://willcoxcorvette.com/product_i...oducts_id=3247

I'm not sure about the front spring bushings or the sway bar bushings.. Are you wanting the front sway link bushings, or the bar bushings where it mounts.

Here is a picture you can print out.. show this to your mechanic and then contact Sales at willcox@willcoxcorvette.com with the items you need or email me direct at Willcoxcustomerservice@willcoxcorvette.c om .

Hi Glen, perhaps I met you at a Capital Corvettes meeting?

Those 'cushion' bushings (sway links and P/S cylinder) come with replacement parts and I don't believe that they are sold separately. The A-arm bump stop bushings can be purchased separately, as can the sway arm frame-mount bushing blocks. You may be able to find some similarly sized 'cushion' bushings at a shock absorber repair shop in your area. Maybe they will sell you a few of approximately the right size. They need to be about the same diameter (not larger) as the metal retainers on either side of those bushings and about 25-30 mm thick. Save, clean and reuse the metal retainers on your existing parts. Good luck with your project.

Save your sanity and money and just buy a full car kit. Even if you only use half the bushings in it, you'll come out cheaper than trying to source all the parts individually. I recommend this one...

The "full car kit" of Corvette bushings does not come with rubbers for the shock absorbers, P/S slave cylinder, or sway bar links. [At least, none that I've seen have those items included.]

I think the poster need rear leaf spring bushings, along with PS cylinder mount bushings, the sway bar bushings can vary depending on if your Vette was equipped with the optional Gymkahana suspension package or a std model, you will need to find the diameter of the front roll bar to get the correct items.

The ES kit I linked comes with the PS cylinder bushings as well as the sway bar mount bushings and end link bushings & hardware.

Shock absorber bushings would come with new shock cylinders.

You can import both of our Bush's. Just a warning though, the last one got us in a real mess.
