clutch
my clutch works fine and no slippage but when doing the engine swap , we found that it was not so new as we expected (just 3-4000 miles on it and mild driving by PO) .
some thickness is gone , but lot of it still there -but above all signs of burning on the pressure plate...
the clutch is an Hays street-strip with 11" disc. 14" flywheel ( my mech says it doesn't need resurfacing)
I would like to have another clutch handy ( which one? ) if the clutch goes bad all of a sudden, but advises are welcome about the clutch type and use in general.
briefly:
-my cam ( Zl1 ) forces me to do some gas-clutch footjob at start in 1st gear. there's no torque below 2000 rpm so I need to rev to 2000 and then release the clutch. some clutch job ( slippage) it's needed in the town , when parking, to keep the car running, and when climbing in 1st gear ( my town is on a hill ).... I would like to avoid to burn the clutch but I see no other way to play with gas-clutch in situations above.
- power shift. does it give very high clutch stress-consumption?depending on the situations , shifting at 4-5k rpm. I would like to keep the stock bellhousing and don't go for a scatter shield . need stock appearance
please advise now , so I avoid troubles later. don't want to have the car long time at the shop when weather will be fine to enjoy nice rides

Allot of how long a clutch lasts no matter what it is depends on the driver.
Some where I came across the HP ratings of CF clutches and that is how I decided to go with the DFX
Is your tranny spline 10?

yes I've seen in an old post that you went for DFX and that you've had no troubles also in non race driving.would it be suitable for me ? read above about low speed operation
yes 10 splines
uhmmm the scatter shield...can someone post the links or pics of what I should buy?

I have 2 options :
-forget the +6000rpm and enjoy the car anyway
-fire up the last few bucks left after the new engine build and go for :
billet flywheel, new clutch , scattershield or steel bellhousing and whatever i need.
please post here the links from parts suppliers ( I can't find scattershield at Summit...) so I do a couple of maths...

i agreed with my "performance tutor" Kevin -63mako to go asap for:
-mcleod bellhousing
-centerforce billet flywheel ( a quite heavy one to help in the low speed operation)
-centerforce DF clutch ( I like the DFX too but the DF possibly better for my driving habits and somewhat cheaper
while waiting for the above stuff to be in the car ( a couple of months unfortunately) , i'll try to go easy on the clutch and on rpm...
forum members! next time someone makes a good power engine build or buy something with some power, please type big like a house : SCATTERSHIELD, BILLET FLYWHEEL, NEW CLUTCH
I was not aware of the thing, I would have gone for those things in time otherwise
