Default I need help with a plan

I have been in the process of a body off restoration on a 69 coupe since Feb 2006. I will get the car back from the paint shop next week. My problem is I need some one who has done this before to suggest an order of assembly from here. The running gear is all in. I started the new wiring harness but did not finish prior to paint. No interior is in at all. I know there are things that should be done first and would like some suggestions from here to make the job easier and make sense..and not to have to put things together only to have to take back off because it was not done smart. Any help will be appreciated.

With luck you photo documented the disassembly process... reassembly is roughly the reverse. If you do not own an assembly manual, get one now before proceeding; it shows how (and in what order) the factory put all the parts of your car together. Go slowly, be methodical and ask lots of questions here when you need assistance. This is the fun part!

I have a gazillion photos of the tear down, but it was not done in any real order. The body is on the car with engine, trans, rear all suspension in place. I need to put the radiator and radiator core support and shroud in, but i think i need to get all head light assy and wiring in and done first...I could go out to the garage and just start slapping parts back on, but I think there must be a better way.

Hi dp,
I don't have any idea how far apart your car is.
A possible sequence could be..
1. Antenna, rear lights, side markers, bumpers and finally license bezel and letters.
2. Headlights, side markers, bumper, bumper-ettes, center grill, grills, parking lights, side markers.
3. Interior... rear window weatherstrip, interior trim panels, rear storage compartments, rear compartment carpet, rear bulkhead carpet, emergency brake console, shifter console, upper dash pad, right dash pad, center gauge bezel, left dash pad, front carpet, seats, door panels.
4. Weather strips... hood, A-pillar, B-pillar, doors, roof panels.
This list assumes that the lighting and dash harnesses are in place and everything electrical and mechanical is hooked up and tested as you go along and also that you have all the proper fasteners ready to go back in.
I haven't mentioned the windshield and all the ss trim, or the door glass and the window and lock mechanisms.
You really need to know the car so understand the different systems that need to be hooked-up as you move along.
Ask some more questions!
I agree with M77 that I wouldn't even begin without the AIM, and CHASSIS SERVICE MANUAL.
Regards,
Alan
You really need to be patient and methodical.

Alan, I have both manuals..although they are not easy to read. As far as patience..Mine is good..Wife's is GONE. I have many shelves full of new parts so will just get started and be back on this forum for advice. thanks for the response.

Hi Doug,
Patience is VERY important.
If I can answer any specific questions as you progress I'll be happy to try.
Regards,
Alan

Try this... get a beverage and your photo album. Sit at the kitchen table and spread the pictures out so you can sort them. Find one of the interior BEFORE it was touched. Then look for one where only the seats are missing. Then one without the center console. And so on until you have filled as many gaps in the process as you have pics for... you really did take it apart in a logical order, now you have to rebuild the photo record , and refresh your memory at the same time. Now start rebuilding from the last photo moving toward the first. I hope this method helps map it out for you.
