Default Bent Header Flange =(

Hey Guys,

I bought some hooker side mount headers, unfortunately the drivers side flange is bent like crazy (see Photo).

I called summit and they suggested trying to bolt them to an old set of heads and see if things straighten out... I'm not to confident in this working..

Any ideas? I'm guessing I'll have to end up sending them back, but would it be better to go through summit, or would it be better to exchange it form holly?

Any ideas? Is This normal?

Thanks,

-Chris

I've had the same issue with JBA, Hooker and Hedman. The last was with Hedman. The right side was perfect and the left side twisted 1/4". I got them from Summit, but called Hedman anyway and the person I spoke to said it was not right and advised me to call Summit. They promptly sent me a replacement, and it was perfect.

Small amounts of twist or bend can be carefully worked out with long sanding blocks or a bolting to a fixture using a well placed BFH. I would never bolt a bent or twisted flange to my nice square heads, and the likelihood of them straightening out by bolting to a head are between slim and none IMHO. The reality is that some mfg.'s don't care what they sell as the average guy will not know the difference. I'm the guy who knows and complains when it's wrong. You should be the same, I think.

If I were you, I would contact Summit and get them to send me a new pair. If you try doing what he told you, you can end up messing the headers up even more and will not be able to exchange them. Call them again tomorrow and tell them you want an exchange.

If you'll read it again, I didn't tell him to do anything. I just said it could be done carefully and ONLY if you know what you're doing.

Thanks guys,

Looks like I'll be sending them back to summit, I was thinking this is the route I was going to need to go anyway.

For the price you pay for these things there shouldn't be any issues like this =(

Thanks for the suggestions guys!
