Hi,The am having my rear rebuilt by my local machine shop. As it turns out the side bearing seized opening up the opening in the casing.
I have a local machine shop who suggests boring the opening and pressing in a sleave. The question is, how do you make sure that when you machine the opening that it is properly centered and angled for the yoke and the halfshaft? The car is a 1970 350 with posi. Thaks for any help

The race must have spun. The opening should probably still be centered. A good machine shop should be able to check it for center. Boring and sleeving sounds like a solution that will work fine. It is done with engine cylinders all the time and centering is more critical there.
