Default Help hanging exhaust

I used the search but came up empty? surprise lol. Does anybody have any pictures of what type of hangers to use, where they go etc and how to mount the exhaust using MANIFOLDS. please. I am going to start on this and could use a hand. Also does it matter if the rear suspension is hanging, or should i block the rear tires to simulate sitting position?

Assuming you're talking about a full dual system, under the car: The pipes are secured where they pass thru the trans crossmember and at the outlet of the mufflers. The rear wheels can be hanging since the pipes pass under the differential. If you didn't have duals before, you can buy a bracket from MidAmerica etc. to hold both pipes at the trans crossmember in place of the stock bracket for one pipe. I also have an extra pair of hangers before the mufflers, in front of the spare tire housing. Sorry - no pictures.

The assembly instruction manual (AIM) has diagrams of the stock installation. Pipes, clamps, hangers, mufflers, ground straps, etc, and the stock manifolds.

Probably in the chassis service manual too.

Ok so it only mounts at 2 points then The true dual cross member and at the rear od the frame. I have a service manual, but it only has the exhaust for the 1980 which didnt have true duals. I have the hanger mounted at the tranny, looks like some cutting will be needed to get the 2.5" pipes through the hole and out of the way?

Have you changed over to the 2 hole crossmember?
4 speed or auto?
The only trans crossmember hanger that I've seen that works with the 350 trans is sold by MidAmerica and looks to be a homemade thingy combining 1/2 a 4 speed hanger with 1/2 an auto hanger. And kind of pricey.
Corvette Central offers a Bubba solution that is basically a pair of universal hangers fastened to the back side of the crossmember.
If you have a 4 speed, the same hanger used for earlier C3s works fine.
Your original muffler hangers are pretty much reusable if you're going with OEM style mufflers.

I have the 2 hole cross member from a 79 vette. And the hanger i got was from Bairs. I guess if i have to bubba i can live with it, as long as it doesnt rattle.

The trans. mount hanger or a pair of universal hangers attached to the back side of the crossmember are commonly done.

Its actually better to have the wheels hanging while you install the system. That way you can ensure the strut rods clear the exhaust when things hang......mine didn't the first time around, and had to take it back to the muffler shop.
