Actually, if you have a small enough hand [or can borrow one], you can remove the tray in the jack storage box and reach in behind the e-brake console from there. You need a 1/4" drive ratchet with a 7/16" short socket to break the bolt loose. Before you go back together with it, cut the head off of that bolt then round the end of it for a 'bullet-nose'. Screw it back into the rear of the console and put a lock nut on the inside to hold it in place. Then when you reinstall it, you just have to stick the bullet-nose into the hole for the bolt and lock down the front end. It won't come loose and you won't have to dig for that bolt anymore.
Good God! I have had easier engine installations than taking this stupid thing off!
First the rear bolt is DEEPLY hidden,
I have to tear apart the middle rear compartment because the door frame screws are rusted flat....to gain access.
Then the window switches decide that they will not unplug...at all.
Then I have to remove the reinforcement plate and all its bolts,
Then use a flat screwdriver to separate the switch from the connector.
Thank you Baby Jesus! It is out!
Ahhhh..... the joys of owning a 40 year-old Corvette.
SH*T HAPPENS, old cars, old bolts, old screws. We all have to replace them, sometime. This is when we decide to refurbish as we go, get in there, and good luck.

That is an excellent idea! Next time my console comes apart I'm going to do try it out.
Thanks!
