I am having trouble removing the drivers side #2 body mount bolt. The passenger came out suprisingly easy (soaked them both for a day with wd-40). The problem is the head is rusted and deformed so I cant get a wrench on it (it kind of slopes up like a pyramid) , tryed vice grips but they pop off. Any tips?
Those things are great for removing a rounded bolt. I used a MacTools socket similar to the ones on the link and had no problem removing a rounded lug nut.
So I tried JB welding it, didn't work. I welded it, started to come off then it just spins really easily. I believe that the thread of the bolt has rusted smooth around the nut. Anyone have any ideas on how to take it out? (The body isnt coming off, but there is about a 2" diameter rust hole to work around)

Sounds like the caged nut is spinning in the retainer. You might be able to jam a screwdriver in to stop the nut from turning. Try soaking the nut/bolt with PB Blaster daily for a week and see if things improve. If there is significant rust damage you may want to re-think removing the body. It's not that hard and you can repair the frame much better with the body off.
Hi SS,
I think Rick's suggestion of trying to jam the nut in the cage is the next best thing to try. I'm wondering though, once you get the old bolt out you're probably going to need to get a new nut in place.... how do you do that?????
Regads,

Body isnt coming off, wish I could just dont have the means right now.
I tried jamming a screwdriver bent at 90 degrees in there but didnt work out. Ive decided to try and drill a couple holes in the nut cage and weld the nut to the cage, that way I can hopefully re-use the nut in there.
I tried drilling it, no luck. Then cutting out the fibreglass in the footwell beside it, found that the birdcage wrapped too far around. I brought out the cutting torch, chopped off the metal part of the old rubber body mount and then jammed a screwdriver through the top into the nut causeing it to jam and was able to remove it. Got the old cage nut out, now to get a new one back in.
