Default Changing speedometer gears on a 200-4R..

I know which gears I need, a 13 tooth (white) drive gear and a 30 tooth (blue) driven gear. Are both gears accessible WITHOUT pulling the pan, and just removing the speedo cable at the tranmission??

The 700R4 requires the tailpiece to be removed, but I understand not the case with the 200-4R.

Thanks,
Rob

The DRIVE gear, on the output shaft of a 200 4r is not accessible without totally dismantling the tranny....

the driven is easy, through the housing...

before going through all that DRIVE gear stuff, I would get a garmin and see what you need in the way of change....I almost bet it's ok/close with a driven gear change .....

I"m looking at the same sorta thing with a tranny in a class c motor home/camper and a 411 rear ratio with a 700.....

think I maybe just chicken out and use a Garmin for the facts of life...

You can also get an adapter made if the drive gear is too far off to compensate for.

mrvette is correct the drive gear is on the output shaft and no way to get to it without a complete teardown on a 2004R

This is not true the drive gear is on the governor. You will have to drop the pan to change it

With the pan off, can I SEE the gear without pulling the governor, to tell what color it is??

If you pull the speedometer driven gear (on the end of the cable) and see in the trans, then you can see the drive gear.
