okay i finally got the hurst comp shifter i bought from ebay...
still in great condition :)
how hard is it to put in a new shifter?
i mean the most i can do is change the brakes, the oil, the filters...
but not much beyond that at this point...i would love to tackle this
job myself, but i don't know if i'll be in over my head or not :(
is this as simple as unscrewing some nuts and bolts...remembering
where everything goes and putting in the new shifter? or would it
require some good experience and know how? i imagine there would
have to be some adjustments to make sure the shifter is working
properly?
If you are putting the shifter on your 69 it is not too hard because you have sidepipes. Working around the exhaust pipes is the biggest problem. Two people make the job easier also. :smash:
Thr process is fairly easy, but actually doing it is kind of a pain in the butt. Did you get the installation instructions with it? If not I think you can get them off of Mr. Gasket's website (they own Hurst). You originally set it up with the trans in neutral, and you shouldn't have to make adjustments once it's all in right. Good luck.
thanks for the replies...i forgot to mention that this is for the '69
the instructions should be included when i get the shift kit
from eckler's
i was quoted $70 for install from local shop that specializes on 4-spd
hotrods...is saving $70 bucks worth the aggravation :jester
   it probably is, but guess i'll look at the install
instructions and tackle it myself since i do want to learn to fix
my baby myself :chevy
