Last week I received a PM from a guy wanting to install a T5 in his C3 and wanted pics of the process because the posts on this swap are so old that pics don't show anymore. I told him to send me his e-mail address and would send him pics. After digging thru my archives I put together all the pics I had taken with notes explaining them and sent several e-mails to him. A couple days passed so I e-mailed him again asking if he had received the pics because I haven't heard back from him. Its been over a week and still no response. He is either dead or just doesn't appreciate the time and trouble it took to accomodate his request. I have gladly helped many forum members with C3 projects and have been helped in return, but it is rare to be ignored once you have tried to help a forum member. Oh well, maybe he will be able to do his swap with the info provided.

KTKelly,
You know, that would not be a problem. I help people with their cars and motorcycles all the time. It is what I enjoy doing. When someone helps me, I show them that I appreciate the time and trouble they went to. Maybe he didn't think it was a big deal. No matter. I will still help when I can; because so many have helped me in the past! This really is a great forum with great people!

Hey Bernie I sure would appreciate any pics ya can post. I put 1 in my 68, the bodys off at the moment so I have not driven it yet. Me and a friend rigged up a slanted rear mount for it and made a prety nice exhaust hanger for it too. Its all hooked up but I would be interested in knowing how off the position of the shifter is going to be when the body goes back and how to make that appair correct. Thank you.

I've run into the same situation several times. You spend a fair amount of time and effort replying to someone's question and you never get even a 'Thanks' response. I think these days a lot of people are ignorant of having basic good etiquette. I'm a lot more inclined to say 'do a search' these days than spend the time to put together a lengthy respons to someone I haven't had contact with before.
Email is a terribly unreliable form of communication. Your email probably went strait into his spam or junk folder, especially if he had one of those junk free accounts like AOL or Yahoo.
The forum PMs are more reliable. If you still have his user ID, you can see when he last visited the site too.
Lars, John 65, rcread, and Ryan. If you will pm me with your e-mail addresses I will send each of you all the pics I have of my swap. I used the Mustang rear tranny mount which allowed for the angle of the tranny lean but making one to fit is good too. The shifter, if I remember correctly, had to go left an inch and back 1 1/2 inches. I measured after the tranny was in to get it right. You will see the spacer I made to get the shifter in the correct location. This swap is probably one of, if not, the very best swaps you can do to a late model C3; in my opinion. I used a Mustang T5 that had the big 1st gear that made my stock C3 literally jump off the line. The WC Mustang T5 will live just fine with a 350 SB engine unless you have monster rear tires on it. The T5 can also be built to take any HP and torque you throw at it if you are so inclined. I know of several C3s with HP in excess of 500 HP using the T5 without problems. I would do this swap again in a heartbeat. It takes a little time and a few weekends but is worth every minute and is a cheap swap too.

Bernie,
I contacted you well over two years ago and you provided the same information to me as well. Just wanted to let you know that I finally got around to doing the swap last October. Worked out well. I used a Camaro transmission and didn't even have to change the pilot bearing.

That's a possibility. Sometimes this happens to me with important e-mails that are sent straight to the spam folder, and I usually just delete everything without going through them.
Bernie,
I drove it from October until the snow started falling. Had to park it then. Should be back out of the garage soon. Folks don't give the T-5 enough credit.

I would like to say Thank You, for the guy who did not. I have used this forum many times for ideas and help. So thanks again help is always appreciated.
I saw the scolding you gave me on the forum. Please accept my apology for not sending you a timely reply. I did get your pics. Thank you.
I called several machine shops till I found one that is interested in my project. I'm going to see them this afternoon to show them the drawing.
I have not had any luck finding this transmission in my area.
In a thread from 01/07/07 you offered to go with a forum member to the salvage where you bought yours. I was wondering if you would be willing to do this for me? I would like a 94 or 95 T-5 with the longer input shaft which needs two adapter plates. If you would give me the contacts name and phone number I would then make the purchase and they would ship to me in PA 17053. If not, I understand.
Would you provide a drawing for the machining of the (spacer) plate? I have a drawing for the first plate. Do I have this right, you do not drill the top right hole when using the 94/95 T5?
I put approx. 5,000 miles on my '80 every year (April-November). I want to get my ducks in a row before I do the swap because I do not want her out of service for weeks on end. I'm getting antsy already to get her out.
Hey Guys, I have to report that I have been under the weather for the past few days and am sorry for not getting back to you. Hopefully, everyone will receive pictures today. If you don't mind, I will include everyone's e-mail addresses together. This way each of you may be able to help the other in your respective swaps. You can contact me anytime and I will do my best to help each of you. It is a fun and worthwhile project and it really wakes up a C3!
