I am about to begin a LS1 install in my 73. I agree that getting cold air is valuable. However the issue is getting in front of the radiator. The radiator support in the Sharks was designed to seal the air gap between it and the hood. I have seen some folks get creative and cut a notch in it and the radiator. I am not willing to do that. Another way would be to change the angle of the radiator. Again this requires a lot of fabrication. Seems like too much trouble. I have wondered if you could go through the radiator support to the left or right of the radiator. Maybe this is possible but the plumbing would be involved. I am using electric fans on my conversion. Since the fan will not be driven by the water pump, I might be able to do something between the engine and the radiator. Maybe that will work and maybe it won't.
I am going to wait until I get the 383 out of my car before I decide what to do.

I thought about going through the sides of the radiator support but could not get it to work out like I wanted it to with all of the vacuum stuff for the headlights. I am going to be changing my headlights over to electric in the future and may revisit going through the support again later.
Another idea I had was to take the cool air from below the car. Maybe run the intake tubing down one edge of the radiator support and pull from below. You could probably build a scoop at this point and have a ram air type of effect. Something for another day to look at.

I saw something similar in a Chevy II/LS1 conversion. I just got my last component for a McSpeed electric headlight conversion a couple of weeks ago. I will probably wait until the engine is out of the car before installing it.

Nice work for sure. I am not so sure that I could pull that one off on my own though. I do like the idea very much. Kind of like the C5 version except it looks like his is made of aluminum.
I have a Dewitts radiator and I left out the upper foam seal between the radiator and the core support.I think some cool air get to my air intake.Charlie
