The '73 warning flasher **** is at 5 o'clock position on the steering column, just below the ignition switch. The **** is chromed plastic and just screws onto a stud that is connected to the switch in the column. No wires go to that area....not sure what lever/switch you are referring to.

Lilypad, When you look into the hole in the column is there any threaded hole to screw into?

I have the same problem. There is nothing in the hazard button hole that would would allow me to screw a new button into.

Does anyone know what parts are required to attach the button to the turn signal switch? I am assuming that this is where the hazzard get activated.

The standard column has the hazard button screwing into the switch itself.

The T&T column has to have a small stamped steel lever to reach up to the switch. The lever will have a small tapped hole that will align with the hole in the side of the turn signal switch cover.

It is very easily forgotten until the column is all back together and you suddenly find that the lever was never reinstalled in the column head before reassembling the turn signal switch. (I think some rebuilders may have just let it go at that point.)

Jim,
What is the material thickness? I will probably have to make this myself. Are the edges beveled like they appear in the drawing? Does the tab end have a slot?
Any photos would help enormously.

I see the top and bottom edges are recessed. How deep and how wide?

I don't know what happened to my original drawing of the lever. All I have are bits and pieces around here right now. Here is what I have pieced together.

The part was stamped out of 0.04 stock.
The .63 wide end is the only area of the lever that should be 0.04 thick because it has to rest on a shelf in the turn signal switch housing.

The rest of the lever could be something like 0.06 thick (or thicker) except for the 0.22/.21 end that must be .129/.135 thick with rounded edges. This end must be bent up at a 5 degree angle to match the hazard switch receptical on the underside of the turn signal switch. The #6-32 tapped hole could also be tapped in the 0.06 thick material.

BTW the .63 end had a coating on it. (Most likely to keep it from rattling inside turn signal switch housing.) Possibly just painting it with rubber cement or something of like material might suffice.

Too bad that this is such an easily misplaced part and not available anyplace.

Jim

I will have to view the post from home. My workplace blocks images from unknown sources.

Thanks for the info. Off to the shop this weekend to fab one up.
