New to the Forum and Corvettes, so please forgive my ignorance. My headlights won't flip up on my '77 when turned on. I know the system works on vacuum. Any ideas on troubleshooting would be appreciated.
Hi B,
There are several long threads about headlight and wiper trouble- shooting on this forum and also some trouble-shooting guides availible here, on the net, and from various vendors.
Can you describe what's going on...? Does anything happen? Do you hear anything, like a hiss? Did they ever work? Did you or anyone do any work on the car that might have caused this problem by accident?
????
Regards,
Alan
Also, have you tried the override switch for the lights under the dash, kinda central under the steering column....simple push pull switch. Sometimes if the main light switch goes faulty so this can be used instead.
As a side note, I know you said you are new, does anything happen when engine is running and you pull on eother the light switch or the over ride?
A few more details and you will get the answers you seek.
Tried the overide switch. The lights do come on when I turn on the headlight switch, they just don't flip up. I think it's a vacuum problem. I really don't know what's been done to the car.
If you open the hood you can get to the hoses to troubleshoot. There is a vac. tank w/ 2 hoses, one to each side & another source. So check for vac. The vac. tank can be bypassed.
Each side can be checked separately.
