Rocker Panel Question
I have a 79 Corvette and I want to replace my faded out rocker molding with chrome ones. Everywhere I look the chrome ones are for 70-77 Corvettes. Will the ones that fit 70-77 also fit a 79?

None of the rocker panels are chrome, they are all anodized, which is a finished applied surface. The 70-77 will not fit on a 79, sorry.

You don't need new panels....you just need to strip the paint off of yours. They are essentially the same as all the other anodized aluminum rocker panels, but they have been painted. DO NOT USE SANDPAPER OR OTHER ABRASIVE SUBSTANCE TO REMOVE THE PAINT. If you do, it will destroy the anodized finish. Just use a chemical stripper and clean them well before reinstalling them. You can paint the recessed area with Krylon semi-flat black paint to make them look like other years, if you want.
P.S. The anodized finish is a 'hardcoat' plated process that puts a durable layer on top of soft aluminum. That protects the panels from road rash, etc.
