Default Does this Spedo Cable look right?

1980 cruise control car

Does the plastic look normal? it looks like the end is twisted off.

if it looks normal then that means its the cruise box, is there a good way to bypass that? Its no longer needed.

thanks

i know that its not what my speedo or transmission end look like on my 81 . i have had both of them apart and its just a 3 sided spline drive . i have never taken apart the 2 ends of the cable on the cruise control connections but i would think they should be the same also as i know the upper cruise control cable is the same as the entire tach cable for the earlier 69-74 cars.

Did "driven" gear in transmission break?

Which side of cable is showing?

It looks as if it came from the transmission!!!(bottom)

If the cable is to the transducer you can eliminate it by getting the

speedometer cable for a vehicle without cruse control and run the cable

from the transmission to the speedometer.

Good Luck

My speedo cable did the same thing on my 79. The Cruise control transducer was shot. I got a cable for a non-cruise control car (it longer) and took it right from my tranny to the speedometer like bhrig said. It just barely makes it up to the speedo. I may replace the cruise some day. Make sure you plug all the hoses to the transducer if you disconnect it.

Cable is bad probably because cruise transducer is not working smoothly.

The lower cable from RWD Monte Carlo like 86 may connect to upper Corvette cable.

thanks, the motor has been changed so there is no longer cruise control on the car.

With an auto trans a 72" cable is really close to the correct length. That's without cruise.
