Default A/C upgrade

I would like to upgrade my 79 a/c. i heard theres a really easy way to do it. can anyone help?

Depends on what you call easy. I assume yours is an accumulator system. That is the basis for a good upgrade.
But it takes a new modern compressor, brackets, hoses and a crossflow condensor.
Search for previous post on here, there is alot of discussion on what can be done.

i've heard about the R-134A AIR CONDITIONING CONVERSION AND CHARGING KIT For around $55 would something like this work?

depends on what shape existing system is in, mine cost about $350 to convert to 134a, of course i did buy a New compressor, accumulator, orifice tube, oil, ac system flush, all new orings (green ones). and new hose manifold / belt, 4 cans freon vacuum pump rental. it cools quite well now.

A 134 conversion is not effective without other upgrades.
