No, the mounting is different. The C4 is designed to be mounted to the aluminum rear ends (36 or 44). The 78 has a 2 1/2" spring mounted to the cast rear end cover, different bolt pattern altogether.

Thanks, my 78 has a heavy duty 7 leaf spring in it now, it rides very stiff and I want to get something softer. Does anyone now what # rating composite spring I should use for a smooth ride?

I recommend a 315# or 340#, both will give you a better ride than what you have. Make sure you check the mount bolt size and current spring width.
