Default Borgeson power steering conversion?

I'm in need of rebuilding the steering box on my 69. Did a search and came across the Borgeson steering box power steering conversion. I already have a PS pump and brackets so I will not need those pieces.
So I guess my question is for those who have done this conversion was it worth it.?

I have SBC with headers in the vette now so I don't think I will have any installation issues.

Thanks

May have been my thread you saw.
Yep, I'm very happy with the Borgeson kit, hopefully others that have done the install will post up with positive results also

Ive got a big block so I am a little different.

But the install is great. I haven't had it out on the road yet so I would have to defer you to someone who is using it already but its a great setup as far as I can tell so far. Really simplifies the setup.

Its $459 at ecklers and I just saw a 10% off right now on their site till the end of the day. You'll need their ragjoint and the borgeson hoses to simplify the install to your stock pump.

It's a good conversion. I just did an install for an upcoming article in Corvette Enthusiast and it worked great. I purposely picked a car that had every obstacle I could think of.....big block, aftermarket heads with .600" raised exhaust ports, 2-1/8" headers, non stock alternator bracket setup etc.

Everything went great and Borgeson can accomodate anything you need for a stock setup or a *Hot Rod* conversion.

It drives very nice with a great road feel...much like new cars. Heavier feel on-center and added power assist as you turn. Much improved over stock and much cleaner.

I had a problem with my rag joint. There was no way it was going to fit, sent it to gill and he confirmed it was the correct joint and that is was up to their spec. Ended up unbolting it and changing the steering column half with the original. Other than that it's not too bad an install. Good luck!

$427.99 @ Summit Racing. I had an installation problem and Borgeson kind of left me hanging but I figured out my own solution.

I'm planning on doing this mod to my '69 in the future and have done some research on it.

Something you should consider is, from what I've learned the position of the brake system proportioning valve/warning light switch interferes with the steering box and will need to be relocated. I don't know how much of a PITA this will be. Maybe someone with another '69 who has done the mod can comment on this issue.

So what is the posts about having to shorten one tie rod and lengthen the other. Supposedly due to the pitman arm not being centered when installed and the box centered, or has that issue been resolved.

Borgeson instructions say nothing about this but it is likely why the include "have a 4 wheel alignment done ASAP" warning.

Default Pitman arm not centered

I installed the Jeep steering box conversion from Corvette Steering, maybe it is the same steering box as the Borgeson, I also had the pitman arm not centered when the steering box was on center. I simply modified the 4 larger inside splines on the pitman arm so I could position it in any configuration. Now it is centered and my tie rods are the same approx. length. I have only driven the car for a few miles with the new box, but it really seems tight and seems to be a big improvement. I would recommend it.
