dang, while trying to get it functioning my TH400 kickdown switch broke. POS plastic.
It's the switch that mounts to the accelerator pedal assembly on my 68 vert.
Anyone know where I can find one?
the parts houses don't seem to have any.
even DocRebuild only lists one for 70-77.
I know, but back then they built most things to last (like the TH400 itself)
I was surprised that a part like that would have been made of plastic in 68
depending on how tuck you are on originality. jegs and summit have adjustable switches that mount on the carb/throttle cable bracket. I have not tried one yet, but keep having issues with the under the pedal switch on mine and plan to try one of these. Maybe worth consideration...if your not hung up on the originality thing.

Yeah I've seen those and am thinking about it.
I like originality, but I personally am not hung up on it.
Problem is P/O was so the car is pretty original, all numbers matching, even things like the carb.
So if I start to go aftermarket it will be out of keeping with what's been done so far.
Might still do it, though, because I think it is a more functional and reliable solution. I guess if I ever got a wild hair to take it to some kind of show, i could just unbolt the kickdown for it. Or just show it like it is and heck with it.

I have a brand new OEM style in GM packaging I bought somewhere a few years ago...this thread prompted me to order the fancy B&M unit from Jegs... so if I'm pleased with it my new OEM piece would/could become available...if your still looking for one in a few weeks drop me a PM ...
