Finally decided to overhaul my stock L-82 in my '76. Thinking I would like to put an overdrive manual in it. The car is stock with a manual 4 speed and 3:55 rear end. Keisler lists several options. Which is the best choice? Remember, the L-82 is being overhauled not built up, so HP should not be appreciably higher than stock.

Keisler quoted me about $2300 for a T45 350 ft/lb 5 speed kit which I think is a great price and with a stock motor you wouldn't need anything stronger. It had a .67 overdrive which might result in fairly low RPM at highway crusing speed but if you go to their web site they have a calculator that will allow you to put in your rear end ratio, tire size and which overdrive (.67 or .82) and calculate RPM at different MPH.

Our T45RS would be just the ticket. You might consider a removeable crossmember at the same time, just saw a new thread about how one is being performed.
