Anyone have any experiance with this engine? seems like a good deal for a good basis for a slow buildup.(something that can be driven between head changes, and intake swaps, etc)... http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=254530
go there for the story behind this possible engine swap...

EDIT: Price for the GM Goodwrench 350 is at $1,395...if I got it, I'd put in a 268H cam from comp cams before I dropped it in...everything else would come with time(I'd do that just to avoid having to go through the trouble when the engine is in the car)....
This is an excellent starting place for a slow-build engine. Take the suggestion to change out the cam before putting it in. With that engine, look into the Edelbrock Performer RPM series.
Cam choices are rather personal and truly depend on what you want the car to do.

If you're looking for *serious* performance, go for a different engine.
If you're looking to play around on a budget, get the GMGW350. I have it, and I do not trust it to do what I want my motor to do, so I'm going to sell mine for the realm of $700-800. (It has 10k miles on it or so.)
The guys at Sallee told me how great it responded to mild buildup techniques, and then continued to tell me not to expect anything more than 350 hp out of it, the pistons couldn't take it.
I plan on *just* over 400. If you're interested in my engine, I'd be willing to set something up w/ you, but I don't plan on doing this motor swap until late summer.

Was planning on throwing on the AFR190 heads... they have emissions provisions, and also putting in the LT1 XR264. I am getting the bare block and crank, as well as the PM rods, but custom pistons and other parts. That way, I can tailor the car the way I want it. The car's a daily driver, and I'm looking for a tame 10k miles a year car. Thanks for the thought, though. Those fast burn heads are pretty killer! :)

Yeah, know what you mean. I'm planning a BB for mine (454 Gen IV) but keep sneaking peaks at that 385... Drops right in; same exhaust, mounts, radiator, fan, OH CRAP...
I want a BB I want a BB I want a BB I want a BB :boxing :yesnod: :yesnod:
I've done the light sporty thing (MGB) and the big motor thing (74 455 Formula) and now I'm back to light sports car (I should have ~300 horsepower). I miss the TORQUE..
When I blew the engine in my 78 I bought a GM universal replacement V8. It cost me $1600.00 several years ago, and i'm asuming its the same engine. If you put a cam ect. in right off the bat you viod the warranty. I would say the differance in price was the fact that I ordered mine thrue a vhevy dealership in AL. I would be willing to sell the engine, but not give it away. It was still under warranty when i was hit from the side. :conehead
