Have a 350 with an auto trans, everything runs fine but when I stop it will die tryed uping the idel, and check idel mix they seams OK, could it be something with the vac to the trans?? will stay running if I keep on the gas a little.
Is it when you brake or just slow? Could be a vacuum leak in the brake booster but that shouldn't cause it to stall. Could be vacuum to the trans is it a TH-350? Is it a new trans or old? Could be the torque converter. But I would suspect the float level on the carb, if it's while braking.
Did a little investigating and found out that my cards secondarys were not closeing (gas running out of the jets) so I think when I slowed to stop it was flooding out rebulid the card think its taken care of Thank for the reply
Got into the carb today and it looks like it had been stored a long time the carb had gotten dryed up and a lot of rust one the butterflys and inside a lot of rust and crud, so I just bought a new edelbrock with a mech secondary ( did not like the vac secondary on the Holley anyway ), runs a lot better, have not had time to take it out for a test drive but think this sould take care of it. Thanks
Is yours a Baldwin Motion car? I'm asking given the paint scheme from the rear of the car (the white stripe that covers the fuel cap and wraps around the rear of the car).
Glad you fixed your carb problem. Was it a 454ci engine? Just curious given your join date for the forum is 2010 (this year).
You've come to the right place (forum). I've been here over 10 years. Haven't done alot to my C3 since around 2005 but getting the itch/bug again.
I knew I remembered a thread on this recently. Last year, I made a panic stop just coming out of an intersection (it seemed like another driver was trying to get me to hit them, and nearly succeeded), and the engine died. Just coming from a stop, I figured I had not clutched fast enough and didn't think about it. On Friday night, I was out with my son, and driving at about 45 mph, and young lady pulled out right in front of me, giving me about 20 yards to go from 45-0. We did it, and my son was impressed with the stopping power of a 40 year old car (though he did complain that the seat belt hurt him a little). However, the engine stalled again. I read above that this is a symptom of float set too high, is this because gas blorps over into the engine and stalls it? I had no trouble starting it back up, I didn't even need to floor it like it was flooded. Could it be something else?
