I've got a pair of C5 seats sitting in a BR closet. :D Yes they fit physically but the mounting is very different and they sit too high. My set is a pair of power seats with motors. I plan on cutting and modifying my floorboard (lowering them 3") to provide room for the motors and new mounting holes. My floorboards are fiberglass and when the body is off, it looks like it will be a fairly easy job. And sidepipes will make it even easier!
If your willing to go with manual seats, you may be able to mount them on C3 tracks. They are mounted to the C5 tracks with smooth carrige bolts, so the only way for me to use them right now would involve cutting them off their tracks. Even on C3 tracks I think they will sit a bit high. So I'm waiting. It was too good of a deal to pass up.

Re: C5 SEATS IN A C3 (74-Roadster)
In '81 they changed the floorbords and a power seat was an option in '81 & '82. I thought I was going to put an '81 power seat track in my car years ago, wrong. it ain't made for it and won't fit.
I had wondered about using a the non-power seat track and seeing if they could be made work on the C-3 mounts.
What about a '96 C-4 seat? will it work on the C-3 tracks and fit? I kinda liked them myself.
I am going to take someones here's advice and try to look at a Recarro seat if I can find someone who carrys them around here. JIM
A couple of members have manual C4 seats installed. They sit a bit higher but not a real problem according to the owners.
I think chevy went to metal floorpans in the Vette in 76 or 77.
If you were closer, you'd be welcome to take a closer look. The C5 tracks are about 6-8" longer and would mount quite differently. The best way to go would be to mount C5 seats on C3 manual tracks that fit your car. Maybe you could take one of your tracks with you to Knoxville. I can build anything out of fiberglass and redoing my floorboards will be an easy solution.
The manual seats seem the easy way to go, as my 77 seats are manual I wouldn't mind the inconvienence. I'm going to check all the specs on the C5 seats tommorow.
