Default Fuel line with electric pump

I know that only few people here are fans of electric fuel pumps, but I don't like easy things

I'd like to add an Electric fuel pump to my 69' and a complete new fuel line. I'm doing a frame off so I can work easly on the rolling chassis.
I've already bought a new standard gas tank and a new sending unit. The engine will be a 427 SBC with about 550 hp.

I'd like this Aeromotive setup :

Id like also to add the speed controller :

http://www.jegs.com/i/Aeromotive/027/16306...oductId=1183778

But I have some questions :

- Some lines has the return line come back directly from the pump and not from the regulator, which's the difference and which's the best solution?
- The sending line is 10AN, and the return line 8AN shall I use with 5/8" and 1/2" ralluminium rigid lines?
- I suppose that the 10AN sending line can't work with the stock sending unit outlet(3/8" I think). What can I do? Shall I weld a surp box like this http://www.summitracing.com/search/brand/A.../?autoview=SKU) to the gas tank (or make a similar one myself) and plug the stock 3/8" sending unit outlet?
- If I will use the speed controller shall I need the relè circuit that usually needs every electric fuel pumps?

Thanks

I will save you some time. I ran an SX pump. would support 1300 HP. I tried steel line that was undersized. 1/2" feed and 3/8 return. i couldnt adjust the fuel pressure below 8 lbs. So i spent a small fortune on #10 feed and #8 return Fixed all the problems. as far as a fuel pump goes here is what you will need. With 550 HP the pump needs to put out275 lbs/hp or 41 gal/hr. The fuel system you want is overkill, but at least you will have room for expansion.

Default Fuel Line

I am no expert, but my guess is that you are oversizing the fuel lines. These cars came through with some big blocks running about the same horsepower that got by just fine with 3/8 supply and return lines. Does not seem you would need anything near a 5/8 set-up.

Its the fuel pump and regulator that require the big fuel lines in order to be able to adjust the fuel pressure. In my opinion a 1/2" feed line would be more than adequate to supply 550 hp.
