Default drive shaft removal

thinking of replacing u-joints. Got under there to look. How does that thing come out? I see the bolts, but not sure how to remove bolts or remove shaft.

Get the rear pinion support bracket and cushion out of the way for easier access to rear u-joint bolts. Use a long 3/8 drive extension down the tunnel. Take out the bolts in the front yoke and shove the yoke forward into the transmission and pull the shaft forward out of the tunnel.

About a 20 minute job.

To do the rear on the diffy you will need a couple of long extensions ans a 12 point socket. undo the diffy first, push it slowly into the back of the tranny then undo the bolts on the tranny yoke. Leave the yoke in the tranny . Order new straps when you get the ujoints, the bolts come with them. My new bolts were 6 point the factory ones were 12 point.

I used a small 1/4" drive socket to do this. I also have access to a small torque wrench, make sure you use a bit of blue loctite and torque to 150 inch lbs.
