Replacing the starter... need help!
I just bought this starter:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SU...sion|Automatic
I took off my old starter and now i have some questions:
Since the new starter is different, how can i know how to connect the wires? How do i know which one is the positive ore whatever?
Here are the pictures (the one on the left is the old starter. To show how it was connected, i wrote numbers):
Then, my other problem is that the pignon doesn't touch the flywheel.
There is something writtem in the instruction, but i didn't really get it
Can anyone help?
Here are the instruction:
Thanks

You don't have the solenoid connections necessary to wire up that starter to a '68-74 car. You would be better off rebuilding your starter and solenoid for about $40 and some time.

He's right , looks like your missing the " R " terminal. I'm assuming the " S " terminal is that screw on the top.

I got this one

It has all 4 posts on it...I haven't put it in yet , but the solenoid does have the " R & S " terminals.

I finally got mine it last week too , started right up, no shims or anything. I did wrap mine with a shield anyway, just in case.
