'79 with 383, Trick Flow heads, roller cam, Hooker headers, dual exhaust from Corvette Central. 700-R4 trans, 3.55 gears. Vette Brakes Grand Touring Suspension package, 255-60 BFG tires on rally wheels. Steeroids rack & pinion. Only complaint is the trans gearing is all wrong. First gear is way too deep. Overdrive is awesome, though.

1971 SB Coupe w/THM-400 tranny. All drivetrain components (except for U-joints, of course) are original to the car...and the car turned 200,000 miles in January of this year! The engine has one full rebuild [with factory parts] using .040" over pistons; one lower end refurb (bearings); and two head/valve refurbs over the years. The last one was done a year ago when I had to repair a blown head gasket. The heads were given to my mechanic for a full rebuild, anyway {even though he said they didn't really need it}. As far as I can tell from PO repair records, the tranny has never been out of the car and it still operates flawlessly. It does have some vibration that I believe is due to a worn charging pump/converter hub bushing, and it leaks a bit from the front seal. A full rebuild on that tranny is probably next fall's 'major work' project.
Gordonm that is some serious wheel power out of a NA SBC. Does that thing run on 91 octane?
Yes it does. I upped the compression just slightly with the new heads and roller cam and so far it is running on pump gas premium. It has had a fuel injection system and a roller cam and bigger heads since those numbers were done so I'm expecting some more power.
