Hi
I found a hardtop just around the corner for my 68 big block convertible for 600 EURO, ( 500+ US$ ) .
The photos show it as being immaculate regarding the weather seals, chrome and interior. Only the outside paint is lousy.
I don't realy need a hardtop, but the little man inside m,e wants it.
Don't know how to convince my wiife that I spend money to have more junk laying around.
Is it easy to dye the interior black from light brownish ?
What do you think about the price ?
Gunther
If I had a convertible, I'd jump on the chance for both tops. Going from any other color to black should be easy. The other way around may not be so easy.
$500 is a pretty good price, most of the used ones I've seen go for around $700. The hardtop completely changes the feel of the car. SEM vinyl dye, clean everything with acetone or lacquer thinner and spray it on in very thing coats. It will look like it was professionally done.
Get it if you can ! - :D
...great to have in the winter - but those tops can be 'heavy'.
An average price in the 'states' is about $700-$900 in good condition.

That's a REAL good price for this area. I have looked at a couple of solid but rough ones for $500.00-$600.00 US that needed rubber and paint. Seems they get left outside or something! :mad Good ones are running to $1200.00.
Fortunately my 68 Tripower Convertible came with the Hardtop - all in excellent shape, except the rear seal.
The top was painted when the car received new paint less than 5 years ago.
I only used it during transfer from Munich to Frankfurt and then stored it in my warehouse - I guess it will sit there for some more years...... :D
Hi
Yes, that's exactly what would happen with myne. :D
I will drive down to the guy selling it in 2 weeks time during easter vacation and if it's ok, bring it along.
Who knows what's it good for in the future and I can always sell it again.
Hi 454big
The 21 & 22 April, we have a oldtimer exhibition /swap meet in Luxembourg in the city's exhibition halls.
The Luxembourg Corvette owners club requested my car to be put in the show room as early C3 sample.
Not to many chrome bumper C3's in Luxembourg that look that impressive as mine.
I also installed tru spoke chrome wire wheels ( 8x15) and they look marvelous.
Now my dream became reality, a chrome bumper convertible Vette with wire spoke wheels and side exhaust. :jester
Are you interested to visit this exhibition. If yes, I can send some information material.
May be you can bring your 68 along.
