76 w/ completely dead electrical. help.
- Battery good, as determined by the machine/tester at AutoZone
I tend to believe it is not the battery because
- After putting a charge on it for several hours and tests statically at about 12.6 volts and is holding charge several days.
- Vehicle is dead when trying to use one of those back-up/emergency batteries.
- Vehicle doesn't respond when trying to use jumper cables from another vehicle.
- There are no interior lights, and when turniing ignition to start, there is no starter, no click, no nothing.
Because the battery box is behind the drivers seat, I am currently trying to get the grounding bolt out of the frame to clean. I'm also told there is a ground cable from the engine to the frame at the front (somewhere?), which I hope to locate and clean those connections if I can find them. Is garaged, and started fine in the Fall.
My question is Because it is a starting, lights, interior lights, etc problem, I'm thinking it is NOT a problem with any of the individual fuses, or the starter connection. Is there any other point (master fuse of some kind??) where I should be looking for a problem?
...and while I'm thinking of it, what is the routing of the Positive cable? From the battery box to where? ..i.e., what connections does it go thru before it gets to the interior fuse box?
Thanks
