I finally got my engine back from the machine shop and now I need some advice. It will be about 3 or 4 months before I will get the car back together, I am in the middle of a frame off. I was wondering if I put the engine back together now and set it on the chasis will it hurt anything to let it set without starting it and letting it break in? How long will the pre-lube stay on the parts?
Thanks in advance for your advice!!
I saw something on this just the other day in one of my car mags. A guy wrote in with the same question, but his had been sitting about a year. They told him that the assembly lube was pretty viscous and should still be OK - just spin the oil pump before firing up for the first time.
Yeah the lube does stay in place and spinning the oil pump up is an excellent thing to do before start up . :yesnod: I usually use an old cut down distributor shaft in a power drill and spin it for a couple of minutes it insures pressure before fire up   :chevy :seeya
Thanks guys for you info. I know it will be alot easier to put it back together now and put it on the frame and hook everything up instead of waiting until I get the body back on then try it!!!
