Default HELP!! with 700r4

I cant get the transmission to line up properly with the transmission mount and new BTO Xmember.....any ideas on what to check.

The tailhousing (past the mount) is hitting the Xmember . Do you think it could be because its a camaro tailhousing and not a corvette tailhousing?....and its not meant to go with the BTO Xmember made for the Corvette?

Yes. The tailshaft housing is pretty much the only difference between 700-R4 transmissions (except for internal stuff). The Corvette transmission had the shortest tailshaft housing of the bunch. Lots of guys have used 700-R4's from other cars in their Vettes, but the stock crossmember has to be modified to do it.

If you are using an F-body trans you'll need to remove the bolt passages from the torq arm mount on the tail housing. These can be cut or ground off and then you're set. I have a 700r4 from my T/A in my vette with the bto cross member. It works great and is an easy install. If you already have cut the bolt passages off and it still has interference check your motor mounts for play.

pm if you need more help

Bill
