I am supposed to get pics soon; what should I look for as far as problem areas, I know it is unrestored, has about 100K, needs weatherstrips at doors, current owner (6'5") got it from a close relative, who got it new, and is driven regularly, current inspections. Said he is too tall and car is simply too uncomfortable for him, so he wants to sell it. I am not sure of price yet. Any comments on value, problem areas to look for etc. I am resto an 81 so I have some ideas already, but not about electronics, or fuel systems etc. Thoughts ok. thanks
I have an 82 CE, and I love it. I only have 63 K on it and never had a probelm. The crossfire is tricky to setup, but once done they run great. Hard to get extra HP out of it unless you scrap the crossfire setup, do a cam, heads etc.
Hope this little info helps
ok, tricky to set-up? can you be a little more specific. That is what should I beware of that may cause me to have to set-up, or may need to be set-up?
Thanks for the info
The 82 Crossfires are the first vette line back into fuel injection since the early days, uses a ECM (computer) and throttle body injectors on a special intake to make it go. A little lean on HP mostly due to poor breathing. Some things that can be done to improve include porting and polishing the manifold, a computer swapout for a faster ECM, tuning of the chips for the ECM, besides all the usual stuff like exhaust, cams, heads, etc. Go over to the Crossfire Injection Vault (www.crossfire.webhop.net) (I think) for info on all the modifications that can be done. I have one and love fooling with it. It will never make the big HP numbers, but they can be made to run pretty quick.
I have 155,000 miles on mine, 70,000 on new motor. Never a problem with the crossfire. You will enjoy the information on the crossfire forum. :blueangel:

What I meant was that if they are screwed up, it takes a good touch to get them back to specs. I also meant is leaves a lot to be desired to get them to outperform. Like stated before, this is the first try at FI
