Hi everyone,
I thought I saw somewhere a dash cover that covers the entire dash, not just the top part near the windshield? I want to change the color of mine to black but really don't want to pull my old one out plus there are a couple cracks I could cover up. Has anyone heard of this, I googled but only came up with that little carpet dealy. I think it was $100.00 or something like that - it seemed like a decent idea.
Am I crazy I really thought I saw this thing lol
Cheers!
It's called a dash cap, I've got one and at first glance it looks alright but I wish I'd gone to the trouble of pulling out the old one and replacing it.
You could buy some interior dye in a rattle can and just repaint it!?!
Use some polyester body filler to fill in small cracks or tears. Then use SEM "Color Coat" elastomeric dye to recolor it all. The "dash caps" just cover the top of the dash; and that doesn't sound like what you want.
You can use a $5 PreVal bottle/sprayer with the SEM dye to spray the new color on. Just mask the he!! out of everything so you can spray without getting any on windows, gauges, etc.
DO NOT recolor your interior panels with spray paint. It won't look right, it will tend to fill in the grain (which dye will not do), and it will flake/peel off.
In any event, you will have to thoroughly clean all panels that you want to recolor. Armor-All is tough to get rid of and the "kiss of death" to a good recolor job, if you don't get it all off.
